How to Get Your Car Title in Washington

Getting your replacement car title in Washington isn't an easy process. That's why we made this guide to help you in the process of getting a new title to your vehicle!

How to Get Your Title in Washington

Did you know that if your Washington vehicle title is missing or damaged, you can apply for a duplicate through the State Department of Licensing?

It’s a fairly easy process to replace your title. Here are the steps you’ll need to take to get started:

The first step in this process is to fill out an Affidavit of Los/Release of Interest. If you’re planning on mailing in your application, you’ll need to have your signature notarized. If the vehicle has more than one owner, you’ll need all of the owners to sign the form and have all signatures notarized.

Once you’re finished with the application, you can either mail or physically bring the documents to any vehicle licensing office or to a Quick Title office.

The vehicle licensing office will mail you your title within 8-10 weeks of receiving your application. The fee for receiving your title from them is $31.00.

If you choose to work with a Quick Title office, your title will be mailed or given to you immediately, which is a great option if you need your title in a hurry. The fee for their services is $81.00.

You’ll only be able to get your duplicate title if you’re no longer making payments on your vehicle. If there is still a lien against your car, the new title will be sent to the lienholder.
