How to Get Your Title in Oregon

Has your Oregon vehicle title gotten lost? Don’t worry, this happens to many people, and the Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles has a clearly outlined protocol for you to follow to get a duplicate title in no time flat. Here’s what you’ll need to do:

Fill out the Application for Replacement Title. If you also need to update your vehicle’s registration, you’ll have to fill out the Application for Title and Registration.

If you are not the original owner of the vehicle, or previously had a lien against it, you’ll need to provide original releases. This includes a Bill of Sale or a Lien Release.

You’ll need to pay a $77.00 title fee, and you’ll also need to calculate any other fees the DMV might incur against you. You can pay the fees via cash, credit or debit cards, or check.

Once you have your payment ready for the fees and your application completed, you’re ready to head into your local DMV to drop off your application. If you’re planning on mailing in your application, send it to the following address:

Oregon DMV
1905 Lana Ave NE
Salem, OR 97314

Your title should be mailed to you within 3-5 weeks. It takes an equal amount of time to get your title if you apply in person at a DMV office versus applying through the mail, so apply however is most convenient for you.
