How to Get Your Title in Oklahoma
Are you looking to sell your vehicle in Oklahoma? In order for the sale to be legal and final, you’ll need to be able to sign over the title to the new owner. Like many things in life, sometimes your title goes missing, or you find that it’s been damaged over the years. If you find yourself in this situation, you’ll need to apply for a Duplicate Oklahoma Title.
The first step in getting your duplicate title is to fill out the Application for Replacement Certificate of Title for Vehicle/Boat/Motor. Make sure you complete the application fully, and have your signature notarized by a certified Notary Public. Your application will not be processed otherwise.
Current Oklahoma registration is required on a vehicle to obtain a duplicate title. If the registration is not complete, you’ll need to pay any fees to get the vehicle registered before they will issue you a duplicate title.
You can submit your completed application to any Oklahoma Tag Agency, or mail it in to the following address:
Oklahoma Tax Commission
Motor Vehicle Division
2501 North Lincoln Boulevard
Oklahoma City, OK 73194
You’ll also need to pay the duplicate title fee of $11.00, and the $1.50 mailing fee, for a total of $12.50. Your fees should be made payable to the Oklahoma Tax Commission.
The state also recommends applying in person, since they receive such a large volume of applications in the mail. You might even get a quicker response if you apply at the Oklahoma Tag Agency of your choice.
