Located in Bucks County in Pennsylvania, Chalfont has a unique history that spans back to the late 1800s, when it was established as an American city by English settlers.
Incorporated as an official town in Pennsylvania in 1902, Chalfont was named after Chalfont Saint Giles. The namesake was a home for William Penn and his wife in Buckinghamshire, England.

Simon Butler, an immigrant of Wales, purchased a grand total of 576 acres of the land that is now Chalfont in 1712. He built his family a house, then built several gristmills, which increased productivity and brought a small population boom to the city.
Butler became an integral part of the town. He was named a justice of the peace and lorded over legal and economic town matters until his death in 1764.
Fun Fact! The descendants of Simon Butler still live in the city, thanks to Butler’s two sons, Simon Junior and Benjamin.
