A Little About Columbia Station, Ohio!
Columbia Station, also referred to as Columbia Township and simply Columbia, is one of 18 townships within Ohio's Lorain County.
In fact, Columbia Station is the easternmost of these townships in the state of Ohio, which is appropriately nicknamed "The Heart Of It All."
Geography
Though the city's official government name is Columbia Township, its post office is dubbed Columbia Station. Locals typically refer to the area as Columbia Station instead of Columbia as there are several other cities with the “Columbia” moniker in the United States.
Columbia Station has a population around 7,000 people. All in all, the city covers nearly 26 square miles. Less than 1% of this space consists of water. The western portions of Plum Creek and Rocky River move through Columbia Station, moving north to south.

meaning locals and tourists who run out of things to do in Columbia Station can quickly segue over to Cleveland. The city also borders Olmstead Falls, Strongsville, North Ridgeville, Eaton Township and Berea.
History
Columbia Station is a component of the Connecticut Western Reserve. This land was ceded by Connecticut in 1786, merely one decade after the American Revolution. Ohio officially became a state in 1805.
Two years later, the United States federal government formally completed treaties with American Indian tribes. Originally home to Native Americans, Columbia Station has been continuously inhabited dating back to the early 19th century.
In fact, this is the site of the longest settlement within the Western Reserve positioned to the west of the Cuyahoga River. Columbia Station was also home to the area’s first classroom, gristmill, teacher, doctor and formally organized church.
Sally Bronson, a local historical figure lived in Columbia Station's Bronson House Museum. Take a drive through town and you will find several other buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places including the Columbia Baptist Church and the Columbia Town Hall.
Continue driving through Columbia Station and you will find the area has an abundance of green spaces including several gorgeous parks. The Columbia Reservation was opened by the Lorain County Metro Parks in 2003.
This 409-acre park has wetlands spanning 285 acres along with three miles of trails that extend through swampland, meadows, marshes and ponds. If you enjoy bird watching, this natural highlight of Columbia Station is a must-see.
Here, you will find 50+ bird species so be sure to take some snapshots with your phone or digital camera.
If you are lucky, you might even spot the great blue heron. If everything goes as planned, another 80 acres will be added to the park system in the years ahead.
Culture

All sorts of festivals and other cultural events are held on this 27-acre park throughout the year.
