A Little About Mebane, Alabama
History
Mebane is named after the famous American Revolutionary War general, Alexander Mebane. Mebane was also a United States congressman. Though few are aware of it, the city of Mebane was originally incorporated as Mebanesville way back in 1881.
The name was shortened to its current moniker two years later. Mebane was officially incorporated as a city in 1887. Today, Mebane is home to around 12,000 people.
Though Mebane is fairly small, it is one of the Tar Heel State's fastest-growing municipalities, largely because the city's limits stretch from the state's Research Triangle to the Piedmont Triad Region.
