A Little About Candia, New Hampshire!
Candia is a town in Rockingham County, New Hampshire. With a population of just under 4000 people, this is a very small town that includes the villages of Candia, Candia Four Corners, and East Candia.
Settled in 1743, Candia was once part of Chester. It was known as "Charmingfare", because of the many parades that occurred through the scenery. In 1763 it was named "Candia" by Colonial Governor Benning Wentworth.
In 1862 the segment between Candia and Suncook was abandoned, with a new line running from Machester to Portsmouth. The last trains passed through Candia in the early 1980s. The track was abandoned in 1982 and removed between 1983 and 1985.
Now, Candia sits on a total area of 30.6 square miles. Candia is drained by the North Branch River, and bisected by two state highways. The summers are warm, while the winters can be freezing, wet, and windy. Most of the year, it is partly cloudy, which is similar to the other Eastern States. The temperature varies from 20 to 80 degrees, while it rarely goes below 6 or above 88.
