Another recall?
It seems like recalls are getting more and more common as time goes by. This time, the affected vehicles are part of the Ford family, and have to do with seats and seat belts.
Ford has issued a recall for over 100,000 vehicles, including the 2014 F-Series pickup, E-Series van, and Escape, and 2015 Escape and Lincoln MKC SUV. All vehicles are in North America, with most believed to be in the U.S.

The recall was announced on Wednesday, July 26, 2017. Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified by Ford Motor Company. And don’t worry, all repairs to your vehicle will be completely free, even if your car is no longer under warranty.
So, what exactly is the problem? It turns out that on these models, some of the bolts holding together the seats, seat belts, and seat belt buckles were “improperly tempered”. Since they weren’t installed properly, this could result in injuries during sudden stops or collisions.
Luckily, there haven’t been any reported injuries because of the default yet. But, it is concerning to see yet another recall happening this year, and we’re just barely entering the second half of 2017.
A record 53.2 million cars were recalled in 2016, and that marked the third year in a row that the number of recalls in the United States affected more than 50 million vehicles. These spikes have been linked to the “dieselgate” scandal and the Takata air bag malfunctions. With both of these issues still ongoing, it’s easy to predict that 2017 will be another record-breaking year for recalls.
There are simple steps you need to take if your car is part of a recall. You can also be proactive about issues with your car and do your own research to see if a trip to the dealership to get it checked out is in your future.
