Economic Impact Payment

The economic stimulus package is still shrouded with confusion as people become more and more in need of financial assistance. Here are the key points of the Economic Impact Payment that you need to know:

  • You are not required to take any action by the IRS unless you are not required to file a tax return
  • $1,200 checks will be sent to individuals who make $75,000 or less yearly
  • $2,400 checks will be sent to married couples who are filing jointly and make a combined income of $150,000 or less
  • An additional $500 will be added to the check for a qualifying child dependent under the age of 17

Of course, there are more requirements and intricacies to the stimulus checks. The list above is relevant to the majority of taxpayers. We recommend getting more information from the IRS’s website. CLASP’s article also defines the ten most important things to know about Economic Impact Payments and more concise explanations.
