Carhenge

 

We’ve written before about this attraction on our Pit Stops for Your Best Road Trip Ever blog, but it’s worth mentioning again! While Stonehenge in England may be mysterious and more famous, Carhenge in Alliance, Nebraska is a sight no car lover should miss! It is a replica of the famous English site made entirely of cars, and is dedicated to the artist’s late father. Stop by to check it out and to see other famous art pieces recreated using automobiles as the medium.

 

The Goodwood Festival of Speed

 

Located in the south of England on a large estate, every July they host the Festival of Speed. Check out a variety of cars and bikes face the challenge of Hillclimb, a 1.16 mile track and get up close and personal with racing royalty and a mix of supercars and heritage cars, it’s an event you can’t miss!

 

Route 66

 

A car lover’s bucket list wouldn’t be complete without a road trip along the Mother Road! While most of the Route has been replaced by bigger highways, you can still incorporate parts of it into other road trips. Stretching from Chicago all the way to Santa Monica, check out all the kitschy road side attractions and historic hotels along the way and imagine you’re cruising in a classic car. It’s an auto fanatics dream come true!

 

The Autobahn

 

If in your dreams you’re a race car driver, the perfect vacation for you would be a stop in Germany to drive on the famous Autobahn. While it isn’t entirely true that they don’t have a speed limit, there are sections where the 80 mph recommendation is just a recommendation.
